Belgium: Heineken to continue legal proceedings against InBev on brewing system patent
Brewing force, Heineken NV, said on September 29 it will pursue its legal challenge against Belgian giant InBev SA to claim that its home brewing system PerfectDraft infringes intellectual property rights, AFX News posted on the same day. The response comes after InBev denied claims that the brewing system breaches patent law. Heineken is continuing its proceedings to file an injunction against the product, a company spokeswoman confirmed.
Heineken said that legal hearings would take place on Nov 7 and 9 at a patent court in the Hague, Netherlands. She added that court action would also be pursued in Germany.
InBev, along with joint manufacturer Philips NV, said in a statement: 'PerfectDraft [..] does not infringe any patents as claimed. Heineken's claims are without merit.' Group sales of PerfectDraft are currently centred in Belgium and Luxembourg.
